Disclaimer: Don't Try This At Home

I will be officially 8 months locked on June 10, 2008. Today I thought I try something new. I actually washed my hair as if it was loose. I mean I was swishing around, rubbing locks together, the hole 9. I have not B&B since December or January, and normally I would just squeeze my locks and gently scratch the scalp... but not today. I washed my hair using a $0.92 bottle of Suave Cucumber melon shampoo that I got from Walmart. I am running extremely low on my Knotty Boy Soap bar since there is two sets of locks to wash in the house. I purchased the bar back in November and I still have some left. However I need to place an order for another one A.S.A.P.

Needless to say, my hair came out just fine.

Made it to month 5...

I made it to month five. I am so excited that spring is almost here. I did finally wash my hair. Thank goodness. I always notice a lot of change after I wash my hair. I love the way it plumps, then after a day I get major shrinkage...

I had to take a picture with my purple hat. Actually, I took this picture about a week ago, but have yet to share it. I am in love with this hat. I have four purple ensembles that I wear with it. I am also stocking up on some things to rock for spring. Each year I choose a spring color. This year my color is "green". Green is one of my favorite colors... I even went to the MAC counter and picked up "humid" (green shade of eye color). I can't wait to use it.

Hair Skin, & Nails oh my...

I just started taking this multi vitamin for hair, skin and . I sure hope it works. It smells horrible though. It contains fish liver oil... WTF. I hope that the smell doesn't seep through my pours. It also recommends taking 3 tablets a day. Right now I am taking only one or two a day, I figure if I see some progress, then I will work my way up to three. For sure my nails need desperate help...

Hair, skin & nails multi-vitamins can be found at most places like GNC, and the Vitamin Shoppe, they also carry various brands. I just happen to get mine from a small shop in Lexington Market.

Also, I have noticed how my complextion has benefited from the sisterlocks. I am not oiling down my hair anymore. With sisterlocks I do not have to worry about putting any product on my hair. I used to use a lot of natural oils like carrot oil and olive oil when my hair was loose. I was and still am the type of person who keeps their hand in their hair, and thus touch my face unknowingly. So, I think my locks are doing my body good.

Knotty Boy Soap Bar.... Current Read

I am now into my second month. Wow how time flies when having fun. So I have been dying to try this little thing-my Knotty Boy shampoo bar. It smells so wonderful. I thought it would have been bigger, but it is only 4.5 oz.

Laurel sulpates are skin irritatants, but are used in shampoos as an inexpensive detergent because it makes mixtures foam well (sudzing).

CAN ANYONE SAY "ITCHY SCALP"

I have heard great reviews about this product.

Every Fall I have to combat dandruff. I am hoping that this product will help eliminate this problem for me. Right now I am still shampooing with my starter shampoo and my Tresseme. Trying to keep the starters shampoo from reaching my scalp has definitely helped with the itchy scalp, the Tresseme is doing its job as a clarifying shampoo, but I got this dandruff. Last night I shampooed with the Knotty Boy Shampoo Bar. After hours had past with completely dried hair, I checked for dandruff and it worked pretty good. It left my hair smeling Oh So Good.

So I recommend trying this bar, see if it works for you.

Currently, I am reading "Native Son", by Richard Wright, this is a classic novel. "Native Son tells the story of this young black man caught in a downward spiral after he kills a young white woman in a brief moment of panic. "

A lot of my friends told me that they had to read this book in high school. So I kinda feel late in reading it, but Richard Wright was a profound writer and I am sure that it will be a great read.

Second wash

For the first wash I braided my hair in about 6-8 braids, and banded them together. To band them I had used the rubber bands in my starter kit. I knew that for my second wash I desperately needed a new routine. So I braided and banded my hair it four large braids and I was determined not to use those pesky rubber bands ever again. I can't think of the proper name of the bands I used on my head, but you can see below.

Also, I used my treseme shampoo on my scalp, and used the sisterlock starter shampoo on the braids. Cause the first time I used the sisterlock shampoo, my scalp was so itchy. Less itch now. The treseme that I used is a clarifying shampoo, nice and clear to remove residue and build up.

Mahogany or black (part two)

Well needless to say, I did not dye my hair before getting my locks. I just could not decide for the life of me. Anywho, I am loving my hair. I am not styling it per se, mostly I have it free styled or I would put the top half in a loose ponytail and leave the bottom half hanging out. I spritz my hair every morning with water. I have three spritzing bottles, which thus far I have found this to be very helpful.

1. bottle with water and an essential oil.
2. bottle with plain water
3. bottle with water and Witch Hazel.

All in all, I try to keep my hair clean.

The ends of my hair are so curly, but I can see some of the curls drawing up and getting a little tighter. My hair is also very elastic, its only hitting my shoulder right now. But when I pull one of my babies straight, then it hits my bra line (there's all that length, I've been looking for you.) Actually I like the fact that it looks shorter, less hair to worry about right now.

No slippage ladies!! Hooray for me. I am suppose to see my consultant in a week. She wants to just check and see how my hair is holding up. I have to send her some pics, I also want to direct her to my blog.

More pictures to come. I bought me some new earrings to compliment my hair... thinking I'm all cute. Hee Hee.

The hubby is still loving the hair. He keep saying that he is going to grow some locks, but that's not the first time I heard that from him. Just got to wait and see.

Week one has been great. My big sis is dying to see my hair, so is my mom. I will try to make it over both of their houses this weekend. I just been so busy.
