At Peace... Truly Happy

Yah know... I am really digging these sisterlocks. For once I am feeling making peace with my hair. I don't have to worry about getting my hair blown out no more. Which was a style that I loved but found that it only really worked for me in the winter months. Having my hair blown out in the summer was just a waste of time and money for a style that only lasted two to three days, then back in a pony tail. I remember I had a job interview about this time last year. I washed my hair, rolled it, blew it out, and then followed up with a flat iron. I was looking like Shaka Khan by the time I got to the interview. I am glad I got there early, I had time to go to the bathroom and brush my hair in a pony tail before the interview.

Sometimes I do miss my loose hair. There is a young lady who sometimes catches my train. I know she be like what is the B*&^% staring at me so hard. Her puff ball pony tail is so pretty and reminds me of mines. Then, a goodole handinhairitis takes care of that.

I feel good about my decision to lock my hair, I am enjoying every stage of this journey thus far. Next week will be 6 months locked. I can't believe how time is flying. That's half of a year. I can't wait to see how my hair progresses during the summer.
I will continue to have "Superwoman" take care and nutrure my locks. My locks are still babies and babies needs someone with experience to take care of them. All of my appointments are booked up until December 2008.

I love the feeling that I get in the morning, the feeling that even though my hair is a little fuzzy, and a may have a little bed head thing going on, I am happy knowing that my sisterlocks look great.

yay! i'm glad you are loving yours. i have a love/dislike relationship with mine and i know it's because i'm in the beginning stages. it doesn't help that the s.o.s. doesn't/didn't like them and i feel like my hair made us grow apart. it's for the better. if he liked me for my hair before, that's nauseatingly superficial. peace!

It's been 6 months already??!!! My goodness!!! Your locks, like always, look amazing. Love the purple eye shadow too...

At times I miss my loose hair as well.. And then I remember it only takes me 20 minutes to get ready for work or I can actually wash my hair and let it air dry or I can jump in the ocean without worrying about my hair drawing up or the list can go on forever...

Keep being in love with your hair, it looks good on you!!!!!

I'm glad you're loving your sisterlocks. I'm still not loving my sisterlocks, but I sure do like them a lot. I'm hoping that when I hit my 6 month stage I'll feel about my sisterlocks the way you feel about yours.

Lakia, you really look happy and at peace with your decision to lock. I cannot wait until my day which is April 13-14, although I have people trying to discourage me. I hope my locs look as beautiful as yours.

Thanks ladies for your warm compliments. I have a huge smile, and when I am happy or excited I grin from cheek to cheek.

Tina - it is good that your are liking your hair. Sometimes we go to war with our hair, I am sure you will LOVE your hair once you and your hair makes peace. For countless years I liked my loose hair, but I found love in my sisterlocks.

Gena - There will be those that will discourage you. If it is family and friends, then they are just trying to look out for you. But they will love your hair when it is all said and done, and you will too.

I say it all the time having freedom and loving things about self is golden. (Even our hair) it plays out in our everyday lifes and how we all present our selves to others.
