Love it when good things come together...

I love it when good things come together, and in this case I am referring to people.  The lovely sisterloc'd ladies of the the DMV came together to end the season off right.  Actually this was the first meet-up that I was able to attend with this group.  I have been so busy sisterlocking that I could never get away and have a nite out with the ladies, but I made sure  I attended this event.  We met at Maryland Live Casino, we enjoyed the scrumptious crab leg buffet.  We laughed, laughed, and laughed until it was time to part our ways... Oh and we ate too! Afterwards, I enjoyed hitting the slots.  I am not one for losing money, so as soon as I WON, I cashed out a called it quits.

I am so happy with my calendar, it is doing well on LULU.COM.  I want to thank all of you that has grabbed a copy thus far.  The calendar begins with November 2012, so there is plenty of time to enjoy each and every month.  I have made a bulk order so that I can sell and distribute some myself.  Have you gotten your Naturally, of Course Calendar yet??
Make sure you get your today, here is the direct link: Support independent publishing: Buy this calendar on Lulu.

Lovely ladies featuring Sisterlocks (TM)

So much has been happening, all good things of course.  My calendar has been published and is available for buying.  Click this Calendar link to be taken to the site to purchase. I had to do the shoot three times.  I wish more of my clients would have participated, but there is always next year.  The calendar is $19.99 for all of those that which to purchase.  The calendar is titled "Our Journey Begins Here". I enjoyed seeing my clients embrace their natural beauty and "FIERCENESS".

We also had our 2nd anual "Sisters N Locs cruise which is coordinated by the fabulous Mz. Laura by way of N. Carolina.  I can't wait till next years... we are going to Puerto Rico, and I hope more of you will join us next year. This year I got to meet even more lovely sisters including the one and only blaq kofi.  I have been reading her blog for years.  When I met her in person I felt like she was just one of my old girlfriends catching up.

Here is a black and white folders with us in white.  We met up with some ladies from Miami.

This was a "different shades of green".  We also did a Red night too...

One of the best things that I enjoy about the cruise is meeting up with Ms. Sharrone.  She started my locks five years ago. WOW that is a long time!

I am also enjoying being home and doing Sisterlocks.  I was spending so much time away from my family... God I love being home!  I had a birthday in September, the big 32 and my 5 year lock-versary in October.

But here are some more pictures to look forward to in the calendar:

Client Appreciation Day Highlights...

August 4th was my very first client Appreciation Day.  VISA gift cards were given out, along with "30 off your next retight" coupon.

I enjoyed seeing my clients having their photos taken, they were looking BEAUTIFUL, and so were their locks.  I was happy to see them embrace their natural beauty.

I am doing a 2nd photo shoot on September 10th. I want to extend another opportunity for those that couldn't attend the 1st photo session.  Here is a sneak peek of some of the photos taken.  All models (besides me) locks are less than a year old, but are maturing into beautiful sisterlocks.

ENJOY

In Good Company

I have been keeping good company these days.  I have installed clients 15, 16, 17, and 18.  This summer has been busy and filled with sisterlocks, and family members birthdays.

August 4th marked my 1 year anniversary, was the day that I started locking my first client.  This first year flew by, and may there be many more!

To celebrate, I hired a photographer to photograph my clients as part of my "client appreciation day". I gave each of my clients a beautiful pennant, and gave out some VISA gift cards and retightening coupons. I am still waiting on the proofs, but we got some good shots in.  I am also thinking about doing a picture make-up day for those that could not make it.  The above picture of me is after the shoot.  I'm not sure if I was feeling my makeup, but everyone said it was cute.  I want to do a photo shoot each year for my anniversary.  Stay tuned for the 2013 calendar.

I also decided not to renew my sub-lease, and have taken my clients back home where I started.  I am away from home for so many hours, this way I can still be with the kids.  Nothing like waking up and going down stairs to work.  My old shop was about 5 minutes from my house, but there is no place like home. I have a small nook, but I love it!

And thankfully this summer session of classes are almost over.  Two semesters to go, and I am going to finish strong! But enough words... Enjoy the pics!

Sorry, It's been a minute

Ok, so this post will be completely random. I noticed that I hadn't post since April and we are now in June.  Sorry, a lot of life has been happening, nothing major, just the usual.  We are doing a lot of remodeling to the house.  I curse the fool that put that Wallpaper up in my bathroom.  GRRR!  Wall paper is pure evil.

Speaking of pure evil... so is lint in your locks.  OMG!  the back of my head was horrible.  I always get the question: "How do you handle lint in your locks?" My answer has always been the key to lint is to avoid it (PERIOD)!!!  I did some research on line and read about this volcanic clay that helps pull lint out of your locks.  This was truly an experiment for me.

I tried it, thought it got the lint out, but when my hair dried, it was like "hello lint, nice to see you again." LMBO.  It may work for some people, or for those that don't have extreme cases (like me).  Anywho... take a look at what I did.  You can google and get recipes on line, and YouTube has a wealth of information.

However, I did try it as a facial mask, and it felt like it was pulling the impurities out of my face (good thing). But my answer to the million dollar question on lint.... JUST AVOID IT! Cover your locks at night, be mindful of the things you wear, wash your locks as needed, and when your tired of seeing the little tiny white specks of lint. DYE YOUR LOCKS! I ended up just dying my locks a week later (pics to come soon)

I did a head count and I can't believe I am up to 22 clients.  Amazing!  I can't believe it myself.  I have also taken on quite a few transfer clients, I am just finding myself more and more within good company. I am planning on doing something special for all of them coming this August. For now I will keep the details under lock and key, but look out for that post.

Here is a before shot of a transfer client

After sitting in my chair :)
Currently, I have room on my calendar for August lock establishments.  I haven't ran a promotion since April.  I am trying to decide if I should do one for August.

Kids are doing great, my son graduates from Elementary school on Monday.  He recently had a saxophone solo, he did wonderful.  Kenny G, better watch out...

School just started back up for me and I am taking two classes this semester.  So, far so good.  The classes that I am enrolled in aren't difficult, but the key is staying on top of assignments, and giving it my all.  I  am going to push for A's but I am happy with a B.  Ok back to studying....

Officially Certified,Family Fun & 14th Installattion

If you been on the Sisterlocks Consultant Registry lately, you will see that I am now listed as a "Certified Consultant"  Yeah me!  I am so happy about now being Certified Sisterlocks Consultant.  I submitted my paperwork at the beginning of October, it has been a long wait, but it was worth it!

I have had some time off this week from doing hair, and took the kiddies to Six Flags this past Saturday.  The weather was nice and they enjoyed themselves.   I am old school, I don't  buy food in the park so I fried up some chicken, made some potato salad, chips, soda, and we had our own little picnic right outside the park.  My older two adventured the park on their own while I stayed with the little kids.  We had a ball! I can remember going to the park in my teenage years... "boy" hunting, and sometimes it feels a little funny taking my kids there as being a Mom.  Those who are from the DMV can remember when the park was Wild World, then Adventure World, and now Six Flags.  I have been going to that park since I was 4, ahhh what memories. In one of the pics below you can see my daughters Sisterlocks, she was my install number 12.  Don't worry, she is gonna have a post dedicated all to herself.

I completed my 14th lock establishment 2 weeks ago.  Pics are below:
