Humanity

Along with my first job, I also work for a Humane Society. I have been working there for the past 7 years, and have enjoyed every minute of it. When I was a little girl I used to bring home every animal I could find. Lost dogs, turtles, kittens, frogs, etc., My mom would say "get that thing out of my house". She did let me keep a few things. I had always wanted to be a veterinarian, but other things caught my attention as I got older. So I love working with animals. This brings me to blog about the misguided "Michael Vick".
I was just reading a portion of this article:

" Michael Vick was sentenced to 23 months in prison Monday for his role in a dogfighting conspiracy that involved gambling and killing pit bulls.
The suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback could have been sentenced up to five years by U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson. Vick, who turned himself in Nov. 19 in anticipation of his sentence, was wearing a black-and-white striped prison suit.
After Vick apologized to the court and his family, Hudson told him: "You need to apologize to the millions of young people who looked up to you."
"Yes, sir," Vick answered.
Vick acknowledged he used "poor judgment" and added, "I'm willing to deal with the consequences and accept responsibility for my actions."

Over the course of the years, I have seen the results of dog fighting, I receive the reports of back ailing dog rings, and yes I have even had to euthanized (put to sleep) lifeless animals that were bred to fight, and loss the battles. Part of being human is having humanity and compassion.

Aww that so special of you to be quite the animal lover. Can't say the same for myself.

That story about Michael Vick is very disturbing.

That is so good that you are able to do something that you love to do. I have a love for dogs and it is really sad to see how people treat them at times. I have an 11 month old American Bulldog puppy and he is like our child since we don't have any kids yet.

I have become an animal lover over the past 3 years...***My story***
My neighbor moved in the winter and she needed to leave her bird here because it was to cold the day she moved. I offered to keep the bird until she came back..I was so naive about animals or any pets, He sat in his cage for three days before I realized that he had no food or water in his cage....I felt so terrible once I realized it...She never came back so I was his adoptive mother...I love my bird...His name is Mama's Baby and he is so lively and talks all the time, sometimes I have to tell him to be quite..He is a parakeet so he chirps allllll the time...I have got into buying him toys and different foods to try.....I love my little bird...I just brought him a new cage and stand for christmas..It is one of the eco friendly cages and he loves it....

I admire you for working with the Humane Society, I couldn't because I would want to bring all of the animals home.

I saddens me to know that in this day and age some people want to pretend not to know that dog fighting is illegal.....it is like wanting to pretend racism doesn't exist.
