Totally Not About Hair...

Who knows what this is? I guess your saying in your head... "Lakia it looks like a circle". Yup, and it is called a Nuva-Ring (a form of birth control). I am going to give this thing a try. Today after 4.5 years of my good ole faithful IUD, I had it removed. I was so scared in having it removed, all types of crazy things went through my mind and my worst fear was that my IUD would be stuck forever. The Doctor just took it right on out. I miss my IUD all ready :( . By far I think the IUD is the best form of birth control on the market. I had the Cooper IUD, after all these years I took it out because I have had kidney stones 3 times within a one year. It is unsure if the cooper had something to do with it, so I got my IUD removed for the sake of my health. I will try this Nuva-Ring for now, but do plan on getting my IUD put in again in about a year or two, but this time around I would not get the cooper one. Cooper can contribute to kidney disease, thus my kidney stones.

I have three kids, ages are 4,6, and 8, and I have tried "the pill", "depo", and "IUD" and now this Nuva-Ring. God has blessed me with fertility, but I do not plan on having any more babies no time soon. I got to get my C.P.A. !!!!!

This is definitely one of the trials of being a woman. I stopped with the pill 2 years ago and would like to be done with hormonal birth control. I luckily stumbled on a website www.cyclebeads.com. Give the site a visit and see if it's a method that may work for you and your hubby.

I became pregnant on the Nuva Ring after being on the pill for 13 years straight. I thought I had some time at least after not being on the pill for my body to regulate itself, but I was wrong. The key is that with the Nuva Ring, it must be refrigerated all the way up until it is inserted. If not, it will be ineffective. I believe that this is what happened to me as well as two other people I know.

I would say that given you previous experience with an IUD as a reliable method, you might want to look into Mederma which is an IUD with progesterone that is slowly released. resulting in lighter periods. I do not know if Mederma has a copper within its construction.

Good luck!

Hopefully you read comments from old posts...
It sounds like the Mirena IUD is the right method of contraception for you. Don't get me wrong, the Nuva Ring is great, you only have to insert it monthly and it has wonderful efficacy, but if you are looking for long term nonpermanent contraception Mirena is for you. many ladies will not have any menses after the first few months (statistically 20 % after the first year) and those who do say they are very light. Yes I have a Mirena and love it and yes I am biased because of my profession, but you should truely consider it. No I do not work for Mirena!
check it out at Mirena.com
...sisterlocked 8 months, lovin it!

I know I'm late to the party, but had to throw in my 2 cents. The nuvaring is awesome. Last I knew (2 years ago) it had the lowest possible dose of hormones of any birth control out there, which was a big plus for me. I hope it works out well for you.

I love your sisterlocks.
